RICHMOND, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - John Dixon, 20 Aug 1804 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I John Dixon of the City of Richmond, printer, being in perfect health and of sound disposing mind, do make this my last will and testament. I give and bequeath unto my wife Sarah Dixon all my property of every description, both real and personal, at the same time recommending to her affection in all situations my dear children: George, Rosanna and Henry. I appoint her my sole executrix and require she will pay all claims and demands which I may justly and legally owe, at the time of my decease. Given under my hand and seal this 20th day of August 1804. J. Dixon (seal) Acknowledged in the presence of: William J. Robertson At a Monthly Court of Hustings & Held for the City of Richmond at the Courthouse on Monday the 10th day of June 1805 This Will was presented in court and there being but one susbscribing witnesss to the same, David Lambert, Joseph A. Myers and George W. Dixon being sworn severally deposed that they verily believe the said Will together with the name of J. Dixon thereto subscribed to be in the proper and entire hand writing of the said John Dixon, whereupon the same is ordered to be recorded. And Sarah Dixon, the Executrix therein named, personally appeared in court and refused to take upon herself the burthen of the execution thereof, which is ordered to be certified. And on the motion of the said Lara R. Dixon, who made oath thereto according to law and her security entered into and acknowledged, their bond in the penalty of two thousand dollars conditioned agreeably to law, Certificate is granted her for obtaining Letters of Administration on the motion of the said John Dixon and with his Will aforesaid annexed in due form. Teste: Adam Craig, CC And At a Monthly Court of Hustings & Held for the City of Richmond at the Courthouse on Monday the 11th day of January 1808 On the motion of John Richard who made oath according to law, and with Joseph Damsdall his security entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of one thousand dollars, conditiooned as the law requires, Certificate was granted him for obtaining Letters of Administration on the estate of the said John Dixon, dec'd, and administered by the said Sarah Dixon now also deceased, with his Will annexed in due form.
