RICHMOND, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - William Elliot, 2 Sep 1806 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I William Elliot of the City of Richmond and County of Henrico, being sick and weak but of sound mind and memory, do make, constitute and ordain this my last will and testament in manner & form as follows: First, I resign my soul and body to that being who gave it existence desiring to be decently buried and it is further my desire that all my just debts be paid as soon as convenient. Secondly, the property I now hold which I consider as mine, consisting of the following things, to wit: one house and lot lying and being on the wide street leading out by the Swan Tavern in the corner oposit Doctor Curneys known in the plot by Number 774, also two acres and known by the Number 233, in the plan of Duvals Survey, also the following slaves, to wit: Gabriel Henry and Leah with all my household and kitchen furniture of every kind whatsoever with any other property that I may not have or mentioned or that I may hereafter have a legal title to, the whole of said property, it is my will and desire should be kept together except what may be sold for the payment of my debts and the profits used for the maintenance of my beloved wife and held on till my child come of age or marry and to be under the care of my Executors untill that period as Trustees. In which period it is my will and I do bequeath to my dear held Eliza Ann Elliot one half of all my estate, to her and her heirs forever, the other part I leave to my dear wife during life and then to return to my child, nevertheless should my wife bear me another child which we are not apprised of, it is my will and intent that the two children and mother third the estate and enjoy in the same manner as above declared, and should my child die before mature age and there be no issue of my body, I leave my whole estate to my wife during her natural life, the whole of the profits for her support and at her death to return back to my relations of the Elliot family, my two under children Robert and Joseph. I further desire that Robert Hide and George Williamson be the Executors of this my Last Will and Testament. Pope, a witness thereto and the said Thomas S. Pope made oath that the name of Anderson Coursay as a witness to the said Will is the proper handwriting of the said Cearsay whereup on the said Will is ordered to be recorded.
