RICHMOND, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Edmund Potter, 13 Feb 1799 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Edmund Potter of the County of Henrico in the State of Virginia, being in sound mind, memory and understandings do make and ordain this my last will and testament. I do give, devise and bequeath unto my loving wife Sarah Potter, all my estate, real, personal, or mixed whatsoever and whersoever the same may be to hold to her and her heirs and assigns forever, subject nevertheless to the expense attending the education of my son David for two years, either in the English or French lanaguaage. And I do hereby nominate and appoint my said wife the sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former Wills by me made. IN WITNESS whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal, this thirteenth day of February in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine. Cox Robert Christy Joseph Brinkley At a Quarterly Court of Hustings Continued by Adjournment & Held for the City of Richmond in the Courthouse on Tuesday the 10th day of March 1804 This Will was proved by the oath of Robert Christy, witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. And at Another Court of Hustings Continued by Adjournment and held for the said City at the Courthouse aforesaid on Tuesday, the tenth day of April following Sarah Potter, the Executrix in the said Will named,appeared in Court and made oath thereto as the law directs, and thereupon with John Foster, her security entered into and acknowledged their bond in the penalty of four thousand dollars, conditioned according to law, Certificate is granted her for obtaining a Probat thereof in due form.
