RICHMOND, VA - WILLS AND ESTATES - Patrick Turman, 5 May 1808 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- I Patrick Turman of the City of Richmond and State of Virginia, do hereby make my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say: 1st, I desire that all the perishable part of my estate be immediately sold after my decease, and out of the monies arising therefrom, all my just debts and funeral expences be paid. Should the perishable part of my property prove insufficient for the above purposes, then I desire that my Executors hereafter named, may sell any part or the whole of whatever real property I am owner of and out of the monies arising therefrom pay and satisfy such of my just debts as shall remain unpaid out of the sales of the perishable part of my estate. 2ndly, After the payment of my debts and funeral expences, I give to my son James one half part of my estate both real and personal but in consideration of his conduct I leave it solely in the power of my Executors to give him from time to time such proportion of the said bequest as they may think most conducive to his interest and benefit. 3rdly, I give to my natural daughter Mary Turman Moore two thirds of the remaining half of fmy estate and considering her tender age, I leave the appropriation of it likewise to the direction of my Executors untill she becomes of age or marries, at which time whatever balance may remain shall be paid to her. 4thly, For the good will and affection I bear unto Charlotte Moore, I give the remaining third of the latter moiety of my said estate. And lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my friends John Millar, John Pumpey and James Turman Executors of this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking all other or former Wills or Testaments by me heretofore made. M. Myers At a Monthly Court of Hustings & Held for the City of Richmond at the Courthouse on the 13th day of June 1808 This Will was proved by the oath of John Potts, witness thereto. And At the same Court of Hustings & Held for the City of Richmond at the Courthouse on the 14th day of June 1808 The said Will was further proved by the oath of Moses M. Myers, another witness thereto and ordered to be recorded. At a Court of Hustings & Held for the City of Richmond at the Courthouse on the 11th day of July 1808 On the motion of John Pumfrey and James Turman, two of the Executors in the said Will named, who made oath thereto, and with John McEnery and William Davidson, their securities entered into and acknowledged, a bond in the penalty of four thousand dollars conditioned as the law directs, Certificate was granted them for obtaining a Probat of the said Will in due form (liberty being reserved to the other Executor therein named to join in the said Probat when he shall think fit).
