Sponaugle Cemetery Location: .5 mile east of Route #460 on a knoll near the Old Gish Home, on the road from Vinton, Virginia, corporate limits to State Highway (Lynchburg and Salem Turnpike) on east side of road. Roanoke Co., Virginia DATE: 1849, date of the oldest grave. OWNERS: H. E. Gish, present owner. (1936) DESCRIPTION: It is in a fair state of preservation, and is a private graveyard. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The inscriptions are as follows: David Gish Died March 11, 1849 Age 77 George H.
