Weaver Cemetery Location: On a hill west of Salem, Virginia. Roanoke Co., Virginia DATE: 1846, date of oldest grave. OWNERS: The will of Dr. John Johnston devises the property to his wife Elizabeth, February 5, 1845. His sons, Joseph and George, are appointed executors. The will of Elizabeth Johnston reserves the family burial ground, September 6, 1856. Joseph H., George W., and D. C. Shanks are appointed administrators. The will of Joseph H. Johnston of Vicksburg, Mississippi, devises the property to his sister, Susan Shanks, Lucy, the wife of his brother, and Margaret, the wife of his brother, John, June 29, 1863. The will specifies that the body of his brother, George W. Johnston, shall be removed to the family burial ground and a monument erected. D. C. Shanks is appointed administrator.
