WALTON CEMETERY - Salem, Roanoke County, VA Located: From West Main Street in Salem, turn left on Mill Lane (Rt 636) cross the railroad tracks and the Roanoke River and go west on Rt 639 for 1.2 miles to Rt 638 and southwest on Rt 638 for .2 mile to a large home on a hill. This home has been the Green Hill Country Club, then the Community School. The cemetery is about 50 yards east of the house, it is about 50' X 75', un- fenced, but well taken care of. Craig County Virginia was named for Robert Craig, a Congressman from 1829 - 1841 and a leader in the county's creation. Robert Craig and Malinda Walton married 18 Feb 1824 in Botetourt County Virginia. Malinda was daughter of William Walton.
