Ct. Annex (Removed to Evergreen) Roanoke Co., Virginia DATE: Unknown. OWNERS: Is owned by The Evergreen Cemetery Corporation. (1937) DESCRIPTION: Is a beautiful well kept perpetual care public cemetery of many acres. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The inscriptions are as follows: Mary Wertz Born June 25th, 1832 Died March 20th, 1847 Katherine Wanger Born June 4th, 1770 Died 1837 Sarah Wertz Born Jan. 5th, 1840 Died 1872 Hannah Kern Born Apr. 23d. 1805 Died 1839 and buried in a Casket of Iron. The bodies of twelve Children were removed but nothing is known just whom they were. The Wertz family were known to have been very wealthy, and owners of numerous slaves. Several of them were soldiers in the War between the States, with the Confederate Cause.
