Jones ROANOKE -- Charles William Jones, 81, of 1116 Marlian Ave., NW, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at Lewis Gale Medical Center. He was born May 13, 1921, in Bristol, a son of the late Charles and Bina Ragan Jones, and was a former resident of Bristol and had made his home in Roanoke for the past 30 years. Mr. Jones was a U.S. Army D-Day veteran of World War II, former employee of Bristol Steel and Iron Works and Hennis/Spector Freight Lines. He also worked for Heironmus Department Store. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Jones; two daughters, Linda Jones and Louella Burnette and her husband Oscar; son, Charles Jeffrey Jones Sr.; five grandchildren, Teresa Cooper, Thom Burnette, Tony Jones, Nathan Witt and Charles J. Jones Jr.; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, in the Mausoleum Chapel at Glenwood Cemetery with The Rev. Stan Anderson officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the VFW Patton-Crosswhite Post 6975. Online condolences may be sent at www.weaverfuneralhome.net.
