DARNELL, Robert Frank, ""Bob"", 78, of Roanoke passed away Thursday, 
April 23, 1998 in a Roanoke hospital. He was retired from Norfolk Western 
Railway, formerly the Virginian Railroad, with combined service of 47 
years. Mr. Darnell was a member of Northside Christian Church. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie P. Darnell and Dora Heath 
Darnell; a brother, Walter J. Darnell; a sister, Pearl Darnell Wright; 
and a son, Mark S. Darnell. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Juanita 
Stultz Darnell; three sons, Robert L. Darnell and his wife, Mary M. 
Darnell, of Roanoke, Gerald W. Darnell and Thomas A. Darnell, both of 
Troutville; a daughter, Joan D. Dorsett and her husband, David Dorsett, 
of Roanoke; seven grandchildren, Starr D. Neese, Linda D. Dowdy and husband, 
Rudy Dowdy, Preston Darnell, Jason Dorsett, Jeffery Dorsett and Ashley 
Darnell; a great-granddaughter, Trista Dowdy; a sister-in-law, Lillian 
Darnell; special friends, Doris Darnell, Patricia Cooper and Iasminka Traylor; 
and several nieces and nephews. 
Funeral services will be conducted 12 o'clock noon Saturday, April 25, 
1998 from Oakey's North Chapel. Dr. Glenn A. Tabor Jr., will officiate. 
Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive 
friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 24, 1998 from Oakey's North Chapel.
