He married Catharine Reynolds, who was born in Louisa county, Virginia, July 13, 1813. Philip and Christena (Summers) Zink were the parents of Samuel, and his wife was a daughter of Garland and Mary (Clark) Reynolds. The marriage of Samuel Zink was solemnized in Louisa county, February, 1834, and their children were eight: Mary A., born in 1835; Ann Eliza, 1836; Christena, 1838, live in Rockbridge county; Hannah M., 1840, lives in Carroll county, Missouri; Samuel, 1845, lives in Missouri; Sarah C., 1847, lives in Roanoke county, Virginia; Susan, lives at home; Martha J., lives in this county. During the civil war, Samuel Zink was a wagon boss and a wagoner over the mountains, in which service his health was so completely lost that he has never since been able to work. He is entitled to a pension for these services and the loss consequent upon them. He owns about 200 acres of land, four miles from the countyseat, and his postoffice address is Lexington, Rockbridge county, Virginia.
