Samuel Pettigrew's hrs 19 Sept 1842 James Moore Poague & Sarah B. his wife sold to Samuel Pettigrew for $660.00 cash paid in hand, 466 acres on Cedar Creek, recently owned & occupied by Joseph Blair, corner John D. Huston & Saml. Houston's heirs, Robt. White & Richard Watts; Thomas L. Miller. With water rightes as conveyed to Poague by Wm. Shields. Pettirew signed 3 bonds of $484.37 3/4 each on this land. The land was sold in 1843, after Pettigrew's death, for the amount owed on it by Pettigrew (the bonds weren't even due). Samuel Pettigrew & Marion Pettigrew, infant ch. of Samuel Pettigrew dec'd, Saml. McD. Reid was their guardian. John Letcher was Admr. of Saml. Pettigrew dec'd. Heris were: widow Hannah Pettigrew, James M. Pettigrew, John G. Pettigrew, Marion Pettigrew & Samuel Pettigrew. 19 Apr 1844-- Hannah Pettigrew, widow of Samuel, was then aged 54 yrs. She was trying to get her dower right from the above property. 19 Apr 1844--- Hannah Pettigrew, widow of Samuel, dec'd was trying to get her dower from the above property, she was aged 54. Shanklin McClintic had bought the property. It seems she received her dower from this property and took the cash value rather than the land. **************************************************************************
