John Cash represents that his father Reuben Cash departed this life in May 1858, intestate, leaving a widow, Nancy Cash, and ten children. viz: Mary Campbell, Frances McCormick, the wife of James McCormick, Joshua Cash, Susan McCormick, the wife of George B. McCormick, Eliza Jane Bartley, the wife of James L. Bartley, William CAsh, Nancy Cash, Ellen McCrory, wife of Edward McCrory, James Cash, and your orator surviving him. Reuben Cash was indebted to John Cash. Reuben Cash died possessed of tract of 102 Acres in Rockbridge on South River and 100 Acres continginious witht he 1st tract. Legal title still vested in the heirs of Matthew Bryan, deceased. Nancy Cash, widow, may elect to take a fair equivalent in money for her right in dower of said lands. Supplemental Bill filed August 1886 Eliza Jane Bartley, wife of James L. Bartley, departed life leaving six children; John R., Cyrus M., Edward H., William L., James O., and Gardner P. Bartley. (Since removed to the State of Indiana with their fther). Newspaper ad in file-- dates the sale as 30 November 1878. The widow of Reuben Cash died in August last, the lands will be sold to clear her dower rights. 10 July 1866 list the heirs residences as: Nancy Cash; Mary Campbell; James McCormick, and Frances his wife; Joshua Cash; George B. McCormick, and Susan his wife; Edward McCrory, and Ellen his wife; William Cash; all of Rockbridge. James CAsh of Augusta County, VA. James L. Bartley, and children, John R., Cyrus M., Edward H., William L., james O., and Gardner P. Bartley (children of Eliza Jane Bartley) all of Indiana. Summons: Ro Sheriff of Nelson County-- to summon Mary Campbell (21 July 1859) Blue paper ³Coppy of Cash & McCormickıs articles² 5 December 1857- Reuben Cash of first part, John Cash and George B. McCormick of other part. Reuben rents them his lower place for $25.00 a year, the first yearıs rent due 1 january 1858-- to rent for 5 years and if they pay Reuben $300.00 against the expiration of 5 years, he is to make them a rite for said lower place (90 acres). Reciept dated 1 September 1878-- Reuben Cashıs Estate to James Freeman For coffin for Mrs. Cash $5.00 For shrouding for Mrs. Cash, $2.52 Reciept-- Joshua Cash directing his portion of the estate which he purchased, be transferred to James T. Freeman. John CAsh and George B. McCormick had rented part of Reubenıs lands with the intention of renting them for five years and then purchasing them. Reuben died before this transaction took place. John Cash said he had paid the rent for 1858, but the rest of the family made him vacate the lands, he also filed the case using reciepts for lumber and fencing materials which he said he had used to repair fences and such. These repair items were disallowed as the rest of the heirs siad he could not prove that is what he used the items for.] ***************************************************************************
