[Submitted by: Virginia Cottrell ouachita@isc-durant.com] At Court held for Rockbridge County, September 7, 1779, On motion of Smith Williamson, Henry Black and Richd. Williamson to be allowed 50 acres of land each for serving as soldiers in the Regular Service in Byrd's Regiment the said persons having produced sufficient proof of the same and Declared on oath that they never assigned their rights nor Rec'd Land themselves, which is ordered to be Certified according to law. p. 322. At Court held for Rockbridge County, VA 3 Sep 1782 "Be it remembered that William Hadden, John Gilmore, and Robert Jameson came into county and severally acknowledged themselves indebted to the Commonwealth, The said William Haddan in the sum of Twenty five pounds, and the said Gilmore and Jameson his securities in twelve pounds ten shillings each, to be levyed at their Goods and Chattels, Lands and Tenements respectively and to the Commonwealth rendered. Yet upon the condition that the said William Haddan shall well and truly keep the peace for one year and one Day from this time, then this Recognizance to be void or else to remain in full force &c." p. 411.
