Bill of Sale John McCoy to Thomas McCoy, April 4th, 1808, Rockbridge County, VA.  

	Know all men by these presents that I John McCoy of 
Rockbridge County and State of Va for and in consideration of one 
hundred & fifty Dollars the rent of the place he lives on for three 
years and also for and in consideration of services rendered by 
Thomas McCoy to me and my family in removing to this Country I 
have given granted bargained & Sold and by these presents do give 
grant bargain and sell unto Thomas McCoy One mare and Coalt 
four head of horned Cattle all my household & Kitchen furniture a 
loom & utensils belonging thereto one ax & mattock two weeding 
hoes two small rings and two wedges, & six head of hoggs.  To 
have and to hold the property hereby bargained & sold to him and 
his heirs forever -- & for myself and my heirs I do warrant and 
defend the right & title thereto against the Claim of myself and all 
other persons witness my hand & seal thies First day of March - 
1808
