	6 May 1848- John Douglas and Nancy his wife to Preston S.
Tolley, 86 1/4 acres for $1.00, on the waters of Elk Creek, a branch
of James River.

22 Aug 1848- Rockbridge County Deed Book AA, p. 119
  
    James T. Tolley to Reuben Grigsby, Sheriff of Rockbridge.  James
T. Tolley now in custody of jailor on a casaipired from the Clerk's
office of the Circuit Superior Court.  At the suit of Isaac Clark
and his schedule annexed to the notice to said Isaac Clark, he has
surrendered his right, title, and interest, both legal and equitable
in the estate of William Tolley, his deceased father.  Also his
interest in the land upon which he now resides.  Which were conveyed
by deed of trust to Thomas S. Moore, trustee, for James F. Harper,
dated 6 Nov 1843.
     James T. Tolley conveys to Reuben Grigsby, Sheriff, his
interest in the lands, which lie on the waters of Colliers Creek.
