Moore acting executor of the estate of Andrew Alexander decd of the County of Rockbridge and state of Virginia to David Witt of the county and state aforesaid. A patent was issued 10 August by the Governor of the Commonwealth to a certain Daniel Windle of the county now deceased for a tract or parcel of land lying in said County on or near the waters of Buffaloe creek, estimate to contain about thirty nine acres and bounded as follows: Beginning at three white oaks on the point of a ridge, a corner to the land of John McCorkle¹s heirs, thence with his line; S 31, W 212 poles to a white oak and pine corner Smileys land, thence withhis line; N 33, W 15 poles to two pines and a black oak cornr to Major Dowell, with his lines; N 61, E 34 poles to three white oaks and a black oak; N 29, W 84 poles to a black oak on a hill corner to John Bowyer¹s line, with his lines; N 60, E to the beginning. Whereas the said Daniel Windel by his writing dated 4 November 1802, acknowledged the said Andrew Alexander to be entitled to one half of this tract, estimated to contain about 39 acres and whereas a certain Robert White has become the lawful owner of the half of said tract by purchase from the heirs of the said Daniel Windel And the said Andrew Alexander and Robert White did in the lifetime of sd Alexander relinquish their claim to about one and three fourth acres of the said tract of land to a certain Jacob Doom whose [ ] is now in possession thereof And whereas the said Moore did advertize and sell as executor aforesaid the undivided share or interest of the said Andrew Alexander in the residue of said tract or parcle of land on the 5th day of November 1844 at public auction to the said David Witt for the sum of $106.00.................................................. (Abstract) 12 February 1847 Deed of Trust John Conner of Rockbridge County, VA of 1st part, and Thomas S. Perry of same, of second part. John Conner, in order to secure payment of Twenty seven dollars and three cents to Adams and Lindsay due 11 January 1827 and Joseph M. and Hugh Adams nineteen dollars and twenty nine cents due 14 March 1846 and also acct due Strickler & Connevey for about twenty dollars which the said John Conner stands partly indebted to Adams and Lindsay J. W. & H. Adams and Strickler & Connevey and "ironcastly" desires to secure and pay to them in consideration of the sum of one dollar to the said John Conner in hand paid by the said Thomas S. Perry the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted, bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant, bargain, and sell unto the said Thomas S. Perry: 1/3 of one field of wheat rye and barley now growing on the lands of Robert Sterrett, one black cow & one red cow and one sow and ten pigs, ninety bushels of corn, 3 feather beds and beding, 2 bedsteads, one cradle and scythe, one small cupboard and furniture, one table and chest, 4 chairs, 2 ovens and two pots. John Conner warrants and forever defends the said personal property to Thomas S. Perry in trust. If John Conner shall fail to pay debts aforesaid on or before 1 February 1848, then said Thomas S. Perry may make sale of the aforesaid property and first pay the debt due Adams and Lindsay, then the debt due J. M. & H. Adams, and then whatever may be due Strickler and Connevey. If the debtors or their legal representatives shall order after 1 February 1848, John Conner or his representative shall request after having given at least ten days notice of the time and place of sale in some public place an in the neighborhood proceed to sell the said property to the highest bidder for the best price that can be obtained in ready money and out of the monies arising from the sale in the first place to pay all reasonable charges attending the drawing recording and execution of these presents and costs of sale and then the debt due Adams & Lindsay and J. M. & H. Adams and the residue fo the monies (if any) arising from such sale to the use of said John Conner.
