On 15 May 1822, William Ruley "for the natural love of a parent," gave his son John B. Ruley was to take care of William and Margaret in "as comfortable a way as they are accustomed."Ó William Ruley made his mark and John B. If the said Rebecca Simonds or his legal representative shall order: or the said Foreans shall request, and after having given thirty days notice of the time and place of the Sale on the Courthouse door of this County proceed to Sell the Said tract or parcel of Land, to the highest bidder, for the best price that can be obtained in ready money, and out of the monies arising from the sale, in the first place to pay and satisfy all reasonable charges attending such sale, and then the debt aforesaid, and the residue of the monies (if any) arising from such sale as aforesaid, to the use of the said Foreans, their executors, administrators, or assigns, or to such person or persons as is by writing under theor hands shall appoint and in default of such appointment to such person or persons as may be thereto entitled, by virtue of the statute for distributing of intestate estates.
