CABELL Esquire governor of the commonwealth of Virginia" To all to whom these presents shall come greeting: Know Ye, That by virtue of a Land Office Treasury Warrant, number nineteen thousand one hundred and forty two issued the fourth day of September seven hundred and eighty three, there is granted by the said commonwealth unto William Miller, a certain tract or parcel of land containing seventeen and an half acres by Survey bearing date the third day of September one thousand eight hundred four, lying and being in the county of Rockbridge, near the Natural bridge on the waters of Cedar Creek, a branch of James river, adjoining the lands of John Guthries, Samuel and John Harper, and Thomas Jefferson, and bounded as followeth to wit: Beginning at a white oak in a line of Thomas Jefferson's land, and corner to John Guthries land, thence with lines of said Guthrie South seventy seven degrees west twenty poles to two black oaks on the side of a hill, south seventeen degrees east fifty eight poles to a white oak and a black oak on the side of a hill, corner to Samuel and John Harpers land, thence with lines thereof, south eighty eight degrees east sixty six poles crossing Cedar creek, and up a steep precipice of rocks to a white oak on the side of a hill, north nineteen degrees east forty two poles to two white oaks and pointers in a line of Thomas Jefferson's land and with the same, south forty six degrees west forty poles to three white oaks on the side of a rocky hill, and north forty eight degrees, west sixty-seven poles with a line of said Jefferson's land, down a hill, recorssing the creek and up a steep hill to the beginning with its appurtenances; To have, and to hold, the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances to the said William Miller and his heirs forever. JOHN TYLER esquire Governor of the commonwealth of Virginia TO ALL TO WHOM these presents shall come- Greeting. Know ye that by Virtue of the Land Office Treasury Warrants to wit: thirty acres by Number Seventeen hundred and twenty nine issued the 14th of March 1805, and thirty five acres by Number Nineteen hundred and fifty four issued the 9th of February 1808, there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto William Miller a certain tract or parcel of Land, containing sixty five acres by Survey bearing date the 7th of December 1808, lying in the county of Rockbridge, and bounded as followeth to wit: Beginning at five white oaks corner to the lands of David Greenlee, and Jacob Shaver, thence with Shaver's line, South Sixty five and an half degrees West five hundred and wighteen poles to three white oaks on a hill side Millers corner, thence north fifty two degrees East three hundred and forty three poles, with said Miller's land & passing his corner, with Samuel Miller's line and passing his corner and with John Ritchey's line to his corner, a black oak thence with two of Ritchey's lines ~ South twenty four and an half degres West Twenty two poles to a white oak and north fifty six degrees west five[?and a half] poles to a white oak South thirty two degrees East four poles to a white oak supposed to be Grantee's corner and the same Corner continues with his line Sixty poles to his corner, a white oak, thence with four of his lines, north sixty five degrees West fifty five poles to a souble White oak north fifty seven degrees West sixty four poles to the beginning with its apputenances, TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said tract or parcel of Land with its appurtenances to the said William Miller and his heirs forever IN WITNESS WHEREOF the said John Tyler esquire Governor of the commonwealth of Virginia hath hereunto set his hand and caused the lesser seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond on the second day of May in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and ten and of the Commonwealth the thirty fourth.
