As attested by me, William Chime, surjeon and pharmacapillist Lexington, Aprile the 20th 1787. Rockbridge Court 4, 1787: Samuel Kirkpatrick of the county, pensioner aged about forty eight years appeared in Court and produced satisfactory proof that he has received several wounds in the service of the state at the Battle of Guilford, under the command of Col. Samuel W. Dawell, whereupon it is the opinion of the Court that he is rendered incapable of labouring for a subsistance for himself amd family and ought to be continued, and that the distance and his circumstances will not reasonably admit of a personal application to the Executive which is ordered to be certifyed. A copy teste Andrew Reid, CS I do with the advice of the Council, hereby certify that Samuel Kirkpatrick, late a soldier in the Militia of Rockbridge County, aged about forty eight years, appears to have been disabled in such a manner while in the service of the United States as to entitle him to the sum of twelve pounds, which allowance is accordingly made him, commencing from the first day of January 1786 .
