ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY, VA - MILITARY - Mary Plott, Application for Bounty Land, War of 1812 ----¤¤¤---- State of Virginia County of Rockbridge On this 15th day of January AD one thousand eight hundred and fifty one personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace, within and for the County and State aforesaid Polly Plott, aged forty eight years, a resident of Rockbridge County in the State of Virginia, who being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is the widow of Abraham Plott who was a Private in the Company commanded by Captain S Campbell in the Second Elite Corps Virginia Militia, commanded by Colonel Moses Green in the war with Great Britain on the 18 day of June 1812 – that her husband was drafted at Lexington, Rockbridge County, VA on or about the 25th day of August AD 1814 for the term of six months and continued in actual service in said war for the term of three months and twenty days, peace being made or he would have served (?) and was honorably discharged at Camp Charles City Courthouse on the (?) day of December AD 1814 as will more fully presented by the muster rolls of said Company. She further states that she was married to the said Abraham Plott in Rockbridge County, VA on the 20th day of February AD 1823 by the Andrew B Davidson, Minister of the Gospel and that her name before her said marriage was Polly Gaylor, and that her husband died at Rockbridge County on the 28th day of April AD 1845 and that she is still a widow. She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which she may be entitled under the act passed September 28th; 1850. Send to Moore & McCampbell Lexington, VA ------------------------------------ State of Virginia County of Rockbridge On this 20th day of March, AD, One thousand eight hundred and fifty five, personally appeared before me, a justice of the peace within and for the county and state aforesaid, Polly Plott, aged 53 years, a resident of Rockbridge County, in the state of Virginia, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is the widow of Abraham Plott deceased, who was a private in the company commanded by Captain __ in the ___ regiment of ___ commanded by ___, in the war with Great Britain, declared by the United States on the 18th day of June 1812; that her said husband was drafted in Rockbridge County on or about the __ day of __ for the term of six months, and continued in actual service in said war for the term of three months, and was honorably discharged at Camp Holly on the __ day of __ (and for a corroboration of the above fact, together with the other items connected therewith, she refers to her husband’s discharge, which was forwarded in her pension application for bounty land was made.) She further states that she was married to the said Abraham Plott in Rockbridge County on the 20th day of February, AD, 1823, by one Andrew B. Davidson, a minister of the gospel, and that her name before her said marriage was Polly Gaylor; that her said husband died in Rockbridge County on the 28th day of April, AD, 1845 ~ and that she is now a widow. She further declares that her heretofore made application for bounty land under the act approved September 28, 1850 and obtained a land warrant for 40 acres, no. __ which she has legally disposed of and it can not now be returned. She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which she may be entitled under the act approved March 3, 1855.
