Fitch & Co.,Attorneys 515 Seventh Street Washington, DC War of 1812 Claim of Widow for Service Pension Act of Mar 11, 1878 State of Virginia, County of Rockbridge On this Sixth Day of April,AD one thousand eight hundred and seventy eight, personally appeared before me Clerk of the County Court, the same being a court of record within and for the County and State aforesaid, Mary Plott, aged 77 years, a resident of Rockbridge, in the State of Virginia, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is the widow of Abraham Plott, deceased, who served as a Private, commanded by Col. James McDowell in the war with Great Britain 1812, that her said husband was drafted at Lexington, VA 1814 for the term of six months, and continued in actual service in said war for the term of 3 months and 20 days, and whose services terminated by reason of an honorable discharge, 1814. She further states that the following is a full description of her said husband at the time of his enlistment: 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, dark complexion and dark hair and black eyes. She further states that she was married to the said Abraham Plott in the County of Rockbridge in the State of Virginia on the 20th day of February AD 1821 by one Andrew B Davidson, who was a minister of the Gospel, and that her name before her said marriage was Mary Gaylor; and she further states that neither herself or said husband had ever been married before or since and that her said husband Abraham Plott died in Rockbridge in the state of Virginia 1847. She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the Pension to which she may be entitled under Sections 4736 to 4740, inclusive Revised Statues, and the Act of March 11, 1878, and hereby appoints Calvin M Dold of Lexington, VA, her true and lawful attorney, to prosecute her claim. And she further declares that she has heretofore made application for Pension but that she did apply and obtained two land warrants for military services in said war and that her residence is the county of Rockbridge, State of Virginia, and that her post office address is Lexington, Virginia.
