Rockbridge County, VA Original Marriage Bond of Samuel Smith
and Rosanna Savage (Transcription)

Know all me by these presents that we Samuel Smith
Wm Tidd & Timothy Forhan 
are held and firmly bound unto the Comonwealth of Virginia 
in the sum of fifty Pounds current money to the sum of fifty 
pounds current money to the payment where of we bind ourselves 
our heirs Executors and Administrators jointly & severly firmly
by these presents
Sealed with our seals & dated this 17th day of June 1793

The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas 
there is a marriage shortly intended to be Solemnized
between the above bound Samuel Smith & Rosanna Savage 
above the age of Twenty years

If therefore there be no lawful cause to obstruct the sd marriage 
then the Obligation to be void or else to remain in full force
