Transcription of John T. Ruley and Nancy Webb's Marriage Bond and
Statements Regarding Their Age.

Know all men by these presents that we John T. Ruley, John B. Ruley and
Henry Webb of Rockbridge County are held and firmly bound unto John
Floyd Governor of the commonwealth of Virginia in the just sum of one
hundred and fifty dollars, to which payment well and truly to be made to
said governor and his successors in office for the said commonwealth we
bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, and administrators, jointly and
severally, firmly by these presents. Witness our hands and seals this
8th day of March in the year 1830.
        The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas, there
is a marriage intended shortly to be solemnized between the above bound
John T. Ruley and Nancy Webb daughter of James Webb dec'd.
        If therefore there shall be no lawful cause to obstruct the same,
then the above obligation to be void otherwise to remain in full force.

        This day John B. Ruley personally appeared before me as a deputy
clerk for said county in said office and made oath this John T. Ruley son
of Wm. Ruley of the state of Ohio is above the age of twenty one years.

        This day henry Webb personally appeared before me a deputy clerk
for said county in sd. office & made oath that Nancy Webb daughter of
James Webb decíd who is about to intermarry with a certain John T. Ruley
is above the age of twenty one years. Given under my

Lindsey Hogue and Mary Pettigrew, daughter of John Pettigrew deceased

Know all men by these presents that we Lindsey Hogue and Eli G(J) Pettigrew of
Rockbridge County are held and firmly bound unto John Floyd, Governor of the
commonwealth of Virginia in the just sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, to
which payment, we and truly, to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs,
executors and administrators jointly and severally formerly by these presents.
Witness our hands and seals this 18th day of December, 1830.  The condition of
the above obligation is such that, whereas there is a marriage shortly
intended to be solemnized between the above named Lindsay Hogue and Mary
Pettigrew daugher of John Pettigrew deceased
If therefore there shall be no lawful cause to obstruct the same, then the
above obligation to be void other wise to remain in full force and virtue.
