Ruley reddog@rockbridge.net Transcription of marriage bond and consent of John Miller and Ann Vineyard: Know all men by these presents that we John Miller and Robert W. McCalphin are held and firmly bound unto the Commonwealth of Virginia in the just and full sum of Fifty Pounds Currency. To the payment whereof well (sic) and truly to be made we do bind our selves... and adm, jointly and severally firmly by these Presents. Sealed with our seals and dated this fifteenth day of June 1785. The condition of the above obligation is such that a marriage shortly intended to be Solemnized between the above bound John Miller and Anne Vineyard both of this county. If therefore there shall be no lawfull (sic) cause to obstruct the said marriage then the above obligation to be void and in full force. John Miller Robert W. McCalphin Teste: A. Reid. I do hereby certify that John Miller hath promised marriage with my daughter Ann and we do give our free consent therefore do not fail to give him license and this shall be your sufisent (sic) warent (sic).
