Transcription Of William Tolley and Sarah Taylor's Marriage Bond

        Know all men by these presents, that we William Tolly George Goode &
John Atkinson are held and firmly bound to James Wood esquire, governor
of the Commonwealth of Virginia or his successors in the sum of one
hundred and fifty Dollars: to which payment well and truly to be made
we bind ourselves our heirs Exors. & c Jointly & severally, firmly by
these presents.
        Witness, our hands and seals this 26th day of August 1800.
        The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas there is a
marriage shortly intended to be  solemnized between the above bound
William Tolly & Sally Taylor Orphan of James Taylor decíd.  Robt. Montgomery
her guard.n having certified his consent.
        If therefore there shall be no lawful cause to obstruct the same then
this obligation to be void or else to remain in full force.

Rockbridge County To Wit
        William Tolly made oath before me that from his own recollection &
other circumstances he has reason to believe he is at this date above
the age of Twenty one years - Given under my hand this 26th day of
August 1800.

        Sir William Tolly applyed to me for a note to you as guardian of Sally
Taylor to grant license to him and I have no objection given under my
hand this 26 August 1800.
