(Transcription) Know all men by these presents that we Abraham Andrew Lear & Abraham Rhoads are held and firmly bound to John Page Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia or his Successors in the sum of one hundred and fifty Dollars to which payment well and truly be made we bind ourselves our heirs Executors & c Jointly & Severally firmly by these presents Witness our hands & Seals this 29th day of June 1803. The Condition of the above obligation is such that whereas there is a marriage Shortly intended to be soleminzed between the above bound Andrew Lear & Cathrine Rhoads daughter of George Rhoads of Rockbridge If therefore there shall be no Lawful cause to obstruct the same then this obligation to be void or else to remain in full force and virtue Teste Andrew Lear A Reid Cl. Abm Rhoads (x his mark) Rockbg County to Wit Abraham Rhoads came before me & made oath that Catherine Rhoades (daughter ofo his brother George Rhoades) is of his own knowledge above the age of Twenty one years & that said George Rhoads is satisfied that Andrew Lear should obtain a License to marry with his said Daughter Cathrine Rhoads. Witness our hands and seals this 20th day of December, 1803. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas a marriage is shortly intended to be solemnized between the above bound Thomas Conner and Elizabeth Standoff, daughter of said John Standoff.
