Rockbridge County, VA
Marriage Bond of John Lair and Susan Thomas, 18 October 1813

Know all men by these presents that we John Lair, George Lair & Gasper Thomas
are held and firmly bound unto his Exellency James Barbour Governor
of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and his successors in the sum of
One Hundred and Fifty Dollars; for the payment of which well and
truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and
administrators, jointly and severally firmly by these presents.  Yet
upon this condition, that if there shall be no legal cause to
prevent or obstruct a Marriage shortly intended to be solemnized
between th said John Lair and Susan Thomas, daughter of the said Gasper Thomas,
of Rockbridge County
Then the aforesaid obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force. 
Witness our hands & seals October 18th 1813.

about to intermarry with a certain Susan Thomas is above the age of Twenty one

George Roades and Rudolph Brock and Anthony Yost on bond of $150.00
to Gov. of Va.  George Roades and Rachel Brock, daughter of Rudolph
Brock of Rockbridge County, VA are to be married.
    Dated 23 November 1813

        ³This day George Roades, who is about to intermarry with a
certain Rachel Brock daughter of Rudolph Brock of the County
aforesaid came before me & made oath that from the information of
his parents he is now above the age of Twenty One years.
    Given under my hand the 23rd day of November 1813.

Jacob Ford and Ann Scott Marriage Bond
8 December 1813

Know all men by these presents that we Jacob Ford and Thomas Scott
are held and firmly bound unto his Exellency James Barbour Governor
of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and his successors in the sum of
One Hundred and Fifty Dollars; for the payment of which well and
truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and
administrators, jointly and severally firmly by these presents.  Yet
upon this condition, that if there shall be no legal cause to
prevent or obstruct a Marriage shortly intended to be solemnized
between th said Jacob Ford and Ann Scott daughter of Jno Scott decd
& Ward of Smith Scott of Rockbridge County Then the aforesaid
obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force.  Witness
our hands & seals this Decr 8th 1813.

license to Marry Anna Scott of said County for whoom I am Guardian
