Rockbridge County, VA  Marriage Bond of Samuel McDaniel and Mary Ann Wilkinson,
28 August 1838.

KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS That we Samuel McDaniel and Jacob Heiser are
held and firmly bound unto David Campbell Esquire, Governor or chief Magistrate
of Virginia, in the just and full sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, to
which payment well and truly to be made to the said Governor and his
successors, for the use of the Commonwealth, we bind ourselves our heirs,
executors and administrators, jointly and severally firmly by these presents. 
Witness our hands and seals this 28th day of August 1838.
    The condition of the above obligation is such, that whereas a marriage is
shortly intended to be had and solemnized between the above bound Samuel
McDaniel and Mary Ann Wilkinson daughter of Daniel Wilkinson dec'd.
    Now if there is no lawful cause to obstruct the said marriage then this
obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.

To the Clerk of Rockbridge County Court:  you are hereby authorized to Issue
License for my daughter Mary Ann Wilkinson to intermarry with a certain Samuel
McDaniel, and in so doing their shall be sufficient authority.  Given under my
hand and seal this 27th day August 1838
