Transcription Of Rebecca Tolley and William Ford's Marriage Bond

        Know all men by these presents, That we William Ford, son of
Wm., and William Clarke are held and firmly bound unto Thomas W.
Gilmer Esquire, Governor or Chief Magistrate of Virginia, in the
just and full sum of One Hundred and Fifty Dollars: to which payment
well and truly to be made, to the said Governor and his successors,
for the use of the Commonwealth, we bind ourselves our heirs,
executors and administrators jointly and severally, firmly by these
presents.  Witness, our hands and seals this 15th day of March 1841.
        The condition of the above obligation is such, that whereas
a marriage is shortly intended to be had and solemnized between the
above bound William Ford and Rebecca Tolley daughter of William
Tolley of Rockbridge County.
        Now if no lawful cause to obstruct the said marriage, then
this obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force. and
virtue.

        Wm. Tolley gave his personal consent & also informed me that
his daughter was of age last Saturday.

        The Clerk of Rockbridge county court is hereby authorized to
issue license to my son William Ford to intermarry with Rebecca
Tolley daughter of William Tolley - Given under my hand and seal
this 15th day of March 1841.
