The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas there is a marriage shortly intended to be solemnized between the above bound Samuel Lesley, son of the said John Lesley, and Betsy Winegar, daughter of the said Wm Winegar of Rockbridge County. Crook", 1997 ******************************************* Marriage Bond "Know all men by these presents, that we John Foran Jr & John Foran Sr & John Agner are held and firmly bound unto Wilson C. Nicholas Esquire, Governor of Virginia, and his successors, for the use of the Commonwealth, in the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, for the payment of which well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and severally firmly by these presents. Sealed and dated this 27th day of December 1814. The condition of the above obligation is such, that whereas a marriage is shortly intended to be solemnized between the above bound John Foran junr; and Mary Agnor daughter of the said John Agnor of Rockbridge County, is therefore, there shall be no lawful cause to obstruct the said marriage, then the above obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue."
