March 12, 1802 Rockbridge County Will Bk 2 pg 272 & 273 I Patrick Neil of Rockbridge Being indesposed But of Sound Mind and memery and caling to mind that all Men must Die and after Resing my Sawl 1'c (raising my soul once) ?gad? and my body to the grave and being Dessierios to Satel (desirious to settle) my Worly effecct as folows and after my first Debts being paid I will and bequeth to my Beloved Wiff Mary all the property that she Brought with hir when wee weare maried and hir third of all My esteat and I will and Bequeth to My oldest Sons that is to Colvin, Makinia, Jams, Patrick, Hamilton and Hulker, one Dollar to cash at them also to My Daughter Isabela Paterson once Dollar and I will and bequeth to my last Sons Danel, and Grahams my Lands with all its improvemenst and the fine stocking Looms (listed in the appraisment of estate) and Frank (his Negro listed in the appraisment of Estate) if there is as much as will pay my Debts Besids, and to my youngst Son Duglas twenty poun out of the Land when Danel comes of eage with interst from this Deat and after Discharging al Debts what balance is any to be Distrbuted as Wm Lyl and Arthur Walkup thinks Best for the advantage of the Childrin. I gve Wm Lyl and Arthur Walkup full power to Satel (settle) all my afears agrabl 1'c (affairs agreeable once) the above as is Slealed (sealed) as Witness my hand and Seal this twelth Day at of March 1802 Wts. This writing purporting the last will and Testament of Patrick Neil Deceased was produced in Court and Proved by the Oath of Downey Reed a subscribing witness and ordered to be for farther proff. Teste A"w Reid CRC And at a Court held for said County of Rockbridge the first day of June 1802. This said writing purporting the last will & testament of Patrick Neil, deceased was farther proved by the Oath of Britton Robinson another subscribing Witness and was Ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of William Lyle & Arthur Walkup (who are appointed by this his said will to Settle all his affairs agreeable to the same & who made Oath according to Law Certificate is granted them for obtaining letters of Administration of said decendents estate with this the said Will and ?annesced? Whereupon they together with Alexander Campbell & Andrew Walkup their Securities entered into and acknowledged bond in the Sum of Three thousand Dollars conditioned according to Law.
