William A. Wilkinson's Last Will and Testament (Transcription) I William A. Wilkinson of the County of Rockbridge state of Virginia do make and establish this my last Will and testament. And first of my real estate I give after paying all just debts. Burial expenses & c to my oldest daughter Elizabeth W. Price and her children to have and to hold forever the Northwest portion of my McCorkle farm. Beginning at a white oake on the line near the woods on the Armstrong and McCorkle line thence a new line to the upper corner of the church lot or burrying ground and thence with the lines of the McCorkle survey to the beginning at the white oak tree aforementioned; And second I give to my son John Alfred Wilkinson the lower or remaining part of said McCorkle farm to the middle of Colliers Creek including saw mill buildings & c also for timber I give Alfred two thirds of the Hickory hill from the old white oak stump in the Jno. Green field on the old Clark and Armstrong lines, to the old blocked chestnut on the top of the hill---- and third I give Cornelia Hanger and her children one half the Armstrong plantation lying on Logans draft with buildings & c attached. And fourth I give to my youngest child Malona Helen and her lawful issue the other half of the Armstrong farm up to the McCorkle line the division to be equal as near as may be be. And fifth I give to my Daughter Sarah Virginia Leitch and her children the lower end of the Clark or home farm running a straight line from the centre of Colliers Creek passing the end of Barn shed below. thence with the fence running up the hill to an appletree on top of the hill thence to a gum corner to John Mtgomery: and Sixthly I give my Daughter Cynthia Agness and her issue teh Home farm making Logans draft the line passing the pond and to the line of Seehorns road at the foot of the hickory hill, by the end of the lane or Seehorns road. Seventhly- I give to my Daughter Rebecca Jane and through her to Nannie M. Rogers the remaining third of the Hickory hill- to be divided with Alfred; also my store house & Lumber house together with all the land I own on the East side of Colliers Creek- also Five hundred Dollars when collected out of my debts by my Executor. This money is in outstanding debts.- And further- Sarah Leitch can only receive her portion of land devised for her when I am fully and entirely released as security for J. Lewis Leitch in the bonds given to James C. Hutton- Her land must stand bound for said bonds. And I further direct that all my personal property be sold, my wife retaining one third of the same for her own use-- the remaining two thirds to close up the estate. And lastly I leave my son Jno. A. Wilkinson Executor of this my last will and testament without security. June 18th 1869 W. A. Wilkinson And now after further consideration I give my step-Daughter Mary Ann Black (formerly Mary Ann Montgomery) and her children forever. One Square acre of land with house. (Plais house) and spring to be laid off the North East corner of the Clark farm. this closes my earthly possessions. July 2d 1871 W. A. Wilkinson At Rockbridge County Court April 3rd 1871. The last Will and Testament of Wm. A. Wilkinson deceased was produced in Court and the handwriting as well in the body of the Will and the Codicil thereto annexed as thte signature to each was proven by the oaths of S. F. Wilkerson and Samuel A. Wilson to be genuine hand writing of the Testator and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of John A. Wilkerson the Executor named in the Will who without security according to the conditions of the Will entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of $4000.00 conditioned according to law certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate of said Will in due form and said bond is ordered to be recorded and it si ordered to be entered of record taht the estate passing by the Will was estimated not to exceed $12868.64 that $7.00 stamps was paid on the probate thereof $1.00 on the Executors bond and $12.90 State Tax. Wilkinson's Bond (Transcription) Know all men by these presents That I John A. Wilkinson are held and firmly bound tot he Commonwealth of Virginia in the just and full sum of Four Thousand Dollars to the payment whereof well and truly to be made to the said Commonwealth of Virginia we bind ourselves and each of us, our and each of our Heirs Executors and Administrators, jointly and severally firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals and dated this 3rd day of April one thousand eight hundred and seventy one. The condition of the above obligation is that if the said John A. Wilkinson who has been apppointed Executor of the last will and testament of all the Goods Chattels and Credits of Wm. A. Wilkinson deceased shall truly and faithfully discharge the duties of office or trust according to law, then this obligation to be void else to remain in full force. John A. This Bond was this day acknowledged in Court by the obligor thereto and having thereon affixed a Revenue stamp of the value of $1.00 ordered to be recorded. Teste J. P.
