(Transcription) Grace E. Glasgow's Will Lexington, VA Jan 6th 1891 It is my desire that my Husband use the issues & profits of my estate, real and personal during his life, with the understanding that at his death any estate shall go as follows-- One thousand dollars thereof to Bettie S. Glasgow & the residue equally to my three sons William, Joseph and S. McPheeters Glasgow. If one or more of my sons die before my said husband the surviving brothers or brother to take his or their shares- It is my desire however that my said husband may whenever he deems it convenient for him self and expedient for them advance such sums to the said Bettie S. Glasgow and my three sons, William, Joseph and S. McPheeters upon the above provision in their favor as to him may seem proper. I appoint W. A. Glasgow my husband executor of this my will wholly written by myself and authorize him to transfer sell or convey any property I have personal or real & that he be allowed to qualify as executor without security. Grace E. Glasgow Jan 6th 1891 State of Virginia At Rockbridge County Court March 2nd 1897 A writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Grace E. Glasgow deceased was produced in Court and there being no subscribing sitnesses thereto, F. T. Glasgow and Robert Glasgow were duly sworn and deposed that they are well acquainted with the hand-writing of the said Grace E. Glasgow deceased, and verily believe that the whole of the said writing as well as the signature thereto is in the hand-writing of the said Grace E. Glasgow deceased, and the said writing being thus proved as the true last will and testament of Grace E. Glasgow deceased, it is ordered to be recorded as such. Whereupon W. A. Glasgow the Executor named in the will made oath and without security according to the consitions of the will entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of $30000.00 conditioned according to law, certificate is granted the said W. A. Glasgow for obtaining a probate of said will in due form and said bond is ordered to be recorded. And it is ordered to be entered of record that hte value of the estate passing by said will was estimated not to exceed the sum of $16000.00 and tht $16.00 State tax was paid on the probate thereof. Glasgow's Exor Bond (Exd) Know all Men by these Presents, That I W. A. Glasgow, am held and firmly bound unto the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the just and full sum of Thirty Thousand Dollars to the payment owhereof well and truly to be made, to the said Commonwealth of Virginia. I bind myself and each of my heirs executors and administrators, jointly and severally firmly by these presents. And I hereby waive the benefit of my Exemption as to this obligation; and I also waive any claim or right to discharge any liability to the said Commonwealth of Virginia arising under this bond or by virtue of the office post or trust, to secure the faithful discharge of duties of which this bond is executed with coupons detached from the bonds of the State of Virginia. Sealed with our seal and dated this 2nd day of March 1897. The condisiton of the above is such, That if the said W. A. Glasgow, who has been appointed Executor of the last will and testament of all the goods, chattels and credits of Grace E. Glasgow, deceased, shall truly and faithfully discharge the duties of his office post or trust, according to law, then this obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue. W. A.
