Carrier to Bowman - 1812 - Rockingham Co., VA This Indenture made this 14th day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twelve between Richard Carrier and Catharine his wife of the county of Rockingham and State of Virginia of the one part, and John Boman of the same county and state aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Richard Carrier and Catharine his wife hath for and in consideration of the just sum of two hundred dollars current mony of the United States to them in hand paid by the said John Boman the receipt whereof they the said Richard Carrier and Catharine his wife do hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain ell alien release and confirm unto the said John Boman his heirs and assigns for ever their undivided fifth share in and of two certain tracts pieces or parcels of Land lying and being in the county of Rockingham adjoining the county line which said two tracts or parcels of land the one containing ninty acres and the other forty five acres are ajoining each other and was conveyed unto John Kesler by a deed of Bargain and Sale from John Stalz (?) bearing date the twenty fourth day of May 1783 and duly recorded in the county court of Rockingham with a full explination of the title papers thereunto belonging a refference thereunto being had will more full and at large appears Now this Indenture witnesseth that whereas the aforesaid John Kesler dying intestate without first publishing his last will and testament the fee simple estate in and of the above tracts or parcles of land decended unto Elizabeth Beard and others formerly Elizabeth Kesler heirs and legal representatives of the aforesaid John Kesler deceased together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining to have and to hold their undivided fifth share in and of the above two tracts or parcels of land unto the said John Boman his heirs and assigns forever and the said Richard Carrier and Catharine his wife formerly Catharine Boman hath granted bargained and by these presents made over and conveyed unto the said John Bowman his heirs and assigns all their right title interest and claim in and of their undivided fifth share of the above described tracts or parcles of land and will warrant and forever defend the same from them their heirs or assigns or any other person or persons claiming any right or title thereunto whatsoever in, wherof they the said Richard Carrier and Catharine his wife hath hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written Signed sealed & delivered } Richard Carrier in the presents of } her Catharine X Carrier mark Rockingham County September Court 1812 This deed from Richard Carrier & Catherine his wife to John Bowman was presented in court and acknowledged by the said Richard and Catherine (she being first privily examined as the law directs and ordered to be recorded Teste L M Williams, CRC (spelling left as found in original) ------------------------------------------ USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be freely used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material AND permission is obtained from the CONTRIBUTOR of the file.
