John R. Kagey to Mary J. Shaffer Deed - 1899 - Rockingham Co., VA

This deed made the 4th day of October 1899 by and between John R. Kagey 
and Josephine C. Kagey his wife parties of the first part and Mary J. 
Shaffer party of the second part and all parties of the County of 
Rockingham and state of Virginia --
Witnesseth, that for and in consideration of Twenty dollars and fifty 
cents, cash in hand paid, the receipt hereof they do hereby 
acknowledge.-- have granted, bargained and sold, unto the party of the 
second part, a certain piece, or parcel of land, lying in the aforsaid 
County and State and in Linville Township and adjoins the lands of the 
lot formerly owned by Isabell Mathias, W. J. Hollar, and others and is 
Bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at a stone in the middle of the 
Great Road, Isabelle Mathias¼ corner in John Kagey's line thence with 
the sameN 50 W 41 poles to a large hickory, her corner in W. J. Hollar's 
line, thence with W. J. Hollar's line N 18 E 3 poles to a stone in said 
line, Thence S 53 1/2 E 41 3/4 poles to the G. Road thence up the G. 
Road S 42 W 5 poles to the Beginning. Containing 1 acre and 4 poles of 
land.-- 
And they the said parties of the first part, grantor, hereby release 
unto the party of the second part, grantee, all claim or claims upon 
these lands, with general warrenty and that they have done no act to 
encumber said lands and that the grantee shall have, free and quiet 
possession of these lands free from all encumbrances. Witness the

I C. C. Shoemaker a notary public for the said county aforsaid in the 
state of Virginia do hereby certify that John R. Kagey and Josie C. 
Kagey his wife whose names are signed to the writing hereto annexed 
bearing date October 4th 1899, have each acknowledged, the same before 
me in my County aforsaid. Given under my hand this 4th day of Oct. 1899
