Deed of B & Sale} George Keezel & Wife to Charles Nicholas. Rockingham Co. Virginia This Deed, MADE the 24th day of April in the year 1856, between George Keezel and Amanda F. Keezel his wife of the County of Rockingham and Stateof Virginia, of the one part, and Charles Nicholas of the County of Rockingham and State of Virginia, of the other part, WITNESSETH, That the said George Keezel and Amanda F. Keezel his wife, for and in consideration of One Dollars in hand paid by the said Charles Nicholas the receipt whereof is hereby acknowled (sic) and for the further consideration One hundred and Five Dollars to be paid on the Fifteenth day of October 1856 for which a lein is hereby retained, do grant unto the said Charles Nicholas all of that tract or parcel of land lying and being in the Town of Keezel Town in the County of Rockingham containing one acre more or less and bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at a stake on Main Street Corner to Nicholas Lot and with his line, to a stake on back Street said Nicholas Corner and with his line to a stake on Back Street his Corner thense leaving an Alley 12 Feed width between Clatterbucks Lot and this Lot to a stake on Main Street and with a line of Main Street to the Beginning. and the said George Keezel and Amanda F. Keezel his wife releases unto the said Charles Nicholas all claim or claims upon the said lands, and the said George Keezel & Amanda F. Keezel his wife covenants that they will warrant generally the property hereby conveyed; and that they have a right to convey the said land to the said grantee; and that the said grantee shal have quiet possession of the said land; free from all encumbrances; and that they will execute such further assurances of the said land as may be requisite; and that they have done no act to encumber said land. This Deed from George Keezel & wife to Charles Nicholas was this day presented & acknowledged by Geo. Keezel before me Clerk of said court & A.M.F. Keezel the wife of said Geo Keezel being examined by me separate & apart from her husband & having the deed aforesaid fully explained to her A.M.F. Keezel acknowledged the same to be her act & deed & declared that She had willingly signed & sealed the same & wished not to retract it & the same is admitted to record.
