The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** The following obituary is from a newspaper titled "Shenandoah Valley", dated 8 July, 1887, published in New Market, VA.: "James Hensly, a very worthy citizen of East Rockingham, in attempting to cross a rapid stream in Madison county, on Wednesday evening the 22nd, was washed down and he and one of his mules were drowned. Henry Lam, who was with him, made his escape by swimming." Note: This is James F. Hensley, son of James Hensley & Elizabeth Maiden. ---------------- The following is an obituary from a newspaper titled "Shenandoah Valley",dated 1 July, 1887, published in New Market, VA.: "Miss Eliza Hensley died on the 14th , age 61 years. She had been afflicted for 47 years so that she has never been able to sit up. She was a devoted member of the M.E. Church (south) for 48 years. All the methodist preachers who have ever traveled in Rockingham or attended camp meetings there can remember Aunt Eliza." Note: Eliza Hensley was a daughter of James Hensley & Elizabeth Maiden. She is buried in the Hensley Methodist Church Cemetery, Rockingham Co., VA.
