E.L. Minnich Obituary - Rockingham Co., VA E. L. Minnich Rites Thursday A funeral service for Edward Luther Minnich, 84, a well known resident of the Spaders Church community will be conducted Thursday morning at 11 o'clock from the Whitesell's EUB Church with burial in the Spaders cemetery. The body will be removed form the Long funeral home at 9:45 Thursday morning to the church to lie in state until the hour of the services. Active and honorary pallbearers will meet at the church at 10:45 Thursday morning and relatives will meet at his late home Thursday morning at 10:30. The family requests that flowers be omitted. The Rev. George Widmyer and the Rev. Daniel Agnew will have charge of the services. Mr. Minnich died at his home Tuesday morning near Spaders Church. He had not been in good health for ten years and had been confined to his bed for almost five years. He would have been 85 years old today. He was born March 7, 1871, near Whitmore's Shop, a son of the late Edward and Elizabeth Gonger Minnich. He was a man of sterling Christian character, a good neighbor and had a host of friends. He was a life long member of Whitesels EUB Church and taught a Sunday School class there so long as his health permitted. Surviving are his wife, Bertie Rhodes Minnich; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Margarite) Back, of Route 1, Mt. Crawford; and three sons, C. Loyd Minnich, Route 1, Harrisonburg; Claude Minnich, Route 1, Harrisonburg, and R. Bernard Minnich, Route 1, Mt. Crawford. He also leaves nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Ben Armentrout, Mrs. S. E. Bowman and Mrs. L. H. Shenk and one brother, A. L. Minnich. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Active pallbearers will be: Jack Roberts, Hunter Roberts, Harry Rodgers, Walter Rodgers, Varlie Lambert and Lloyd Morris. Honorary pallbearers will be: Robert Miller, Riley Puffenbarger, J. B. Whitesell, Wilmer Flory, Paul Hevener, William Miltenberger, Dr. J. C. Harshbarger, O. P. Holsinger, R. N. Rodgers, Charlie Rodgers, H. M. Shaver, Weldon Flory, Bill Roberts, D.
