N. Whitesel, for many years a prominent businessman and churchman of Harrisonburg, whose death occurred Sunday night, was held at 11 o’clock yesterday morning from the family residence on East Market street. A large attendance and the presence of many handsome floral tributes attested the high esteem in which the deceased was held. The services were conducted by Rev. A. S. Hammack, pastor of the United Brethren church, of which Mr. Whitesel was a member, assisted by Revs. Drs. S. K. Cox and A. P. Funkhouser, and Revs. W. F. Gruver and Geo. W. Stover. The music was rendered by the Shenandoah Institute Quartette. Interment was made in Woodbine cemetery, the casket being borne direct to the cemetery—almost immediately opposite the residence—by the pallbearers. Rev. Mr. Hammack, in discoursing on "A Good Man’s Life," paid a handsome and well merited tribute to the life and character of the deceased. Among the many floral designs were exquisite pieces sent by the Sunday school and the Ladies’ Aid Society of the U. B. Church. The pallbearers were: Active—Col. O. B. Roller, and Messers. J. C. Staples, J. N. Garber, W. J. Dingledine, Wm L. Arey and R. P. Martin. Honorary—Prof. Geo. H. Hulvey, Rev. P. S. Thomas, Messers J. William Funkhouser, W. O. Mowbray, J. C. Bradford and Dr. D. R. Good. The honorary pallbearers included the vice-president of the Rockingham County Sunday school Association (Prof. Hulvey) of which Mr. Whitesel was president, and the presidents of the five District associa
