C. Bledsoe Dead. Widow of Former Harrisonburg Minister Expires in Portsmouth. ARTICLE: Mrs. Annie Bledsoe, widow of Rev. Adam C. Bledsoe and a former resident of Harrisonburg, died in Portsmouth Friday at the home of her son, Rev. A. C. Bledsoe, Jr. Her final illness was a protracted one. Mrs. Bledsoe, whose maiden name was Thurmond, came to Harrisonburg a bride shortly after the Civil War, while her husband was preacher in charge of the Methodist church in this place. She was a native of Nelson county, and was an aunt of Mrs. Chas. A. Sprinkle and Mrs. D. H. Lee Martz, both of Harrisonburg, their mother, Mrs. Robert Carter of Shirley, and Mrs. Bledsoe having been sisters. Mrs. Bledsoe was the last of thirteen grown children. She visited her nieces in Harrisonburg only a few years ago. The funeral was held yesterday at Amherst Court House, where Mr. Bledsoe died and was buried about eight years ago.
