Funk Dead. Former Timberville Bank Clerk Was Ill Eighteen Months. ARTICLE: Vernon J. Funk, twenty-four years of age, only son of Mrs. Funk and the late Hopkins R. Funk, died at his home late Wednesday evening. Death was due to spinal trouble, from which Mr. Funk had been a sufferer for three years. He spent the last eighteen months of his life in bed as a hopeless invalid. Mr. Funk was for two years a bookkeeper in the Farmers and Merchants Bank at Timberville, going there upon his graduation from the Dunsmore Business College in Staunton. He gave up his position when compelled to enter Providence Hospital, Washington, for an operation. He was twice operated on there and later took treatment in Richmond where his case was pronounced hopeless. He was a member of Mount Jackson Lodge of Masons, and of the Reformed Church. In addition to his mother he leaves five sisters—Mrs. James Halterman of near Broadway; Mrs. Allen Zirkle and Mrs. Warner Zirkle, of near Moores Store; Misses Cora and Annie Funk. The funeral will be held at 10 o’clock this morning from Solomon’s Lutheran Church at Moores Store.
