J.H. Wheelbarger Obituary - Rockingham Co., VA J. H. Wheelbarger Expires Suddenly Retired Rockingham Farmer is Victim of Heart Attack After Eating Joseph H. Wheelberger, 72, retired Rockingham county farmer, dropped dead yesterday morning at 7:30 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Stuart E. Good, two miles south of Harrisonburg on the Valley Pike. He was a victim of a heart attack. Mr. Wheelberger had been in failing health for several years but his condition was not considered critical. His death came as a great shock to his friends throughout the county. He seemed to be in his usual health yesterday morning and ate a hearty breakfast. He was stricken shortly after leaving the breakfast table. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11 o'clock from the Dayton Methodist Church. Services will be conducted by his pastor, the Rev. O. D. Lambert. Interment will be in the family plot in Dayton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Active - Luther Shrum, Frank Linhos, Abram Heatwole, Otis Kagey, B. S. Landis and O. G.Kaylor. Honorary - A. B. Flick, J. N. Shrum, Fred Boggs, J. A. Shifflett, Dr. W. W. Koontz and G. L. Gilkerson. Mr. Wheelberger was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Wheelberger and was born, reared and spent his entire life in Rockingham. He was engaged in farming near Rushville until several years ago when he retired on account of failing health. Mr. Wheelberger was well-known in the Dayton and Bridgewater communities and had a host of friends in that section of the county. Mr. Wheelberger was a devout member of the Methodist Church and was a man of high Christian character and held in high esteem by all who knew him. Early in his twenties Mr. Wheelberger united in marriage with Miss Fannie Susan Fishback, who proceeded him in death. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. E. E. Harper, of Penn Laird; Mrs. Wilmer Simmons, of Spring Creek; Mrs. C. E. Whitmore, of Bridgewater; and Mrs. S. E. Good, of near Harrisonburg with whom he made his home; four sons, A. S. Wheelberger, of Dayton, Ohio, C. J. Wheelberger, Murfreesboro, N. C., and V. L. and Claude E.
