Born Sept. 5, 1921, in Buchanan County, Va., she was a daughter of the late Elbert and Rosa Whited Ball. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a member of the Holiness church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Baldwin; one daughter, Maudine Meade; one son, Earl Baldwin; two infant sons; two sisters, Grace Johnson and Lula Terry; and three brothers, Garnett Ball, Willie Ball and James Ball. Survivors include five daughters, Sylvia Mae Hess of Tazewell, Va., Bonnie Sue Coleman of Wysor Valley, Va., Nancy Jean Lowe of Abingdon and Brenda Faye Johnson and Wanda Gaye Kennedy, both of Lebanon; three sons, Roger Lee Baldwin of Lebanon, Eugene White of Sugar Grove, Va., and Raymond Ball of Lebanon; one sister, Viola Guynn of Honaker; one brother, Arnold Ball of Council, Va.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren also survive. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the fourth floor nursing staff at Russell County Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Rev. Eugene Miller and Rev. James Sims officiating. Interment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon. Pallbearers will be Roger Hess, Roger Daniel Hess, Delmas Coleman, Rodney Coleman, Junior Ratliff and Earl Casey. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Samuel Melton, Dr. Brian Easton, Dr. Timothy McGlaughlin and nurses of Highlands Family Medicine. Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Sunday and at any time Monday. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family will be appreciated.
