Counts Jr. LEBANON -- Earl Cecil Counts Jr., 84, of Route 3 died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, in Johnston Memorial Hosptial in Abingdon. Born April 7, 1918, in Hansonville the son of the late Earl Cecil Counts and Stella Meade Counts, he was a retired employee of Raytheon in Bristol with 23 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Green Valley Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy (Dot) Counts; two daughters and sons- in-law, Darla and Bob Miller of Bluff City and Debbie and Robert Forrester of Gate City; granddaughter, Rebecca Moody McConnell and husband, Steven, of Pope Air Force Base, N,.C.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Nell and Roland Herrington of Abingdon and Evelyn and Robert Jessee of Kingsport; his stepmother, Trula Counts of Abingdon; four half-brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom and Connie Counts of Abingdon, Ted and Pat Counts of Lynchburg, Danny and Betty Ann Counts of Marion and David and Becky Counts of Abingdon; one half- sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Evans Scyphers of Marion; three step- grandchildren, Robby Miller and wife, Missy, of Blountville, Kelly Miller and wife, Penny, of Bristol Virginia and Nikki Dolan and husband, Tim, of Elizabethton; and a great-grandson, Zachary Miller. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, in Green Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Darrell Fletcher, the Rev. Austin Fields and the Rev. Lester Sexton officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by Lebanon VFW Post 9864 will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, in Russell Memorial Cemetery. Those attending are requested to meet at the church at 10:30 a.m. to go to the cemetery in procession. Pallbearers will be Joe Fields, Brady Harris, Larkin Booth, Leonard Fletcher, Steve Wallace, Don Mosier and George Tatter. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Ernest Henry, Emmitt Buckles and Jack Lyons. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Green Valley Baptist Church, Route 2, Box 135, Lebanon, VA 24266.
