Dotson HONAKER -- Mrs. Gedie McGlothlin Dotson, 90, passed away Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, in an Abingdon hospital. Born March 15, 1912, in Tazewell County,Va., she was a daughter of the late Ross and Ora Harris McGlothlin. She had spent most of her life in the area and was a member of Campbell Chapel and attended Valley View Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Willard Dotson; and three sisters, Edith McGlothlin, Lena Belcher and Janie Whatley. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and John Maxfield of Rosedale, Va.; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Robin and Todd Henley of Abingdon; three brothers, Paul McGlothlin and Bill McGlothlin, both of Honaker, and Charlie McGlothlin of Castlewood,Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Pat (Mable) Combs of Honaker and Helen Whitmore of Bristol Tennessee. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Rev. J.C. Steele and Rev. Kenny Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Memorial Cemetery at Lebanon. Pallbearers will be J.C. Arrington, Darrell McGlothlin, Jerry Hale, David Maxfield, J. Tom Owens and Mike McGlothlin. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the third-floor nursing staff at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
