Fletcher HONAKER -- Mr. William Clyde Fletcher, 88, passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, in a Lebanon hospital. Born Sept. 13, 1914, in Deskins, Va., he was a son of the late James Brock and Rachel Vandyke Fletcher. He had lived in the Honaker area for the past 33 years, moving there from Buchanan County. He was a retired coal miner, having been employed by Pittston Coal Co. and was a member of the UMWA Local 1256. He was a member of Concord New Garden Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Annie Breeding, Ollie Wilkey and Florence Fletcher; and three brothers, Henry Fletcher, Glen Fletcher and Quay Fletcher. In his generation, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Gladys Fletcher of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, William Ersel and Ella Deane Fletcher of Glade Spring and Charles Guy and Jeannie Fletcher of Honaker; four grandchildren, Tammy Montgomery of Glade Spring, Shannon Fletcher of Honaker, Maressa Monk of Bristol Virginia and Renita Hicks of Athens, Tenn.; and four great- grandchildren, Lindsey Massie, Madison Massie, Lance Monk and Michaela Monk also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Elder Danny Smith, Elder Otis Fields, Elder Ked Stacy, Elder Joe Edwards and Elder George Ben Combs officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Pallbearers will be Shannon Fletcher, Bernard Fletcher, Earl Fletcher, Ronnie Fletcher, Joe Kendrick, Tommy Deel, Doug Compton, Greg Fletcher and Aaron Fletcher. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of the Washington District Primitive Baptist Association. Friends may call at Honaker Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Wednesday, where an evening service will be conducted at 7 p.m.
