Born Jan. 9, 1928, in Finney, Va., he was the son of the late Bowen H. and Destie Crabtree Kegley. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a retiree of Norfolk Southern Railroad after 37 years of service and a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Railroad Workers. He was a United States veteran serving in World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant son, Randall Ray Kegley; and two sisters, Jewell Smith and Betty Dye. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Lee Ann Kiser Kegley of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Richard Thrasher of Roanoke; two granddaughters, Jessica D. LaFontaine and April G. Ashby, both of Roanoke; one great-grandson, Ethan Miles LaFontaine of Roanoke; two sisters, Violet (Bod) Artip of Winter Garden, Fla., and Peggy Fields of Delaware, Ohio; former son-in- law, Randall A. Ashby of Boones Mill, Va.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Rev. Harless Hess, Evangelist Bob Cline and Evangelist Dennis Wimmer officiating. Interment will follow in the Russell Memorial Cemetery at Lebanon. Pallbearers will be Chester Street, George Musick, Randy Taylor, Dave Farmer, Phillip Harris, Otis Matney, Harold Gene Harrison and J.C. Jessee. Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Sunday and at any time Monday.
