Born Jan. 20, 1934, in Buchanan County, Va., he was a son of the late George and Ora Belle Lewis Sanders. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a disabled coal miner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Junior Sanders; and one sister, Gladys Meadows. Survivors include five daughters, Sandy Henderson of Rocky Gap, Va., Melissa Nicole Sanders of Honaker, Deborah Matney of Richmond, Jenny Sykes of Clinchco, Va., and Tammy Steele of Richlands; six sons, Eddie Darrell Hess Sanders of Rowe, Va., Bradley Sanders of Honaker, Joe Sanders of Rowe, Jerry Sanders of Christiansburg, Va., and Terry Sanders and Donnie Sanders, both of Richlands; four sisters, Nancy Hodge of Vansant, Va., Geraldine Tiller of Davenport, Va., Agnes Boyd of Rowe and Judy Street of Richlands; four brothers, Fred Sanders, Carl Sanders and Mack Sanders, all of Rowe, and Jimmy Sanders of Manassas, Va.; special companion, Barbara Harris of Honaker; and 14 grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Rev. Ancil Childress officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitt Cemetery at Drill, Va. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Saturday.
