Born April 17, 1950, in Buchanan County, Va., he was a son of Thelma Hurley Stevens of Cleveland and the late Clovis Stevens. A lifelong resident of the area, he was formerly a coal miner and carpenter. He was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, William Stevens; and one sister, Judith Stevens. In addition to his mother, survivors include two sons, William Scott Stevens and Todd Stevens, both of North Carolina; one daughter, Melannis Ridenbaugh of Abingdon; two sisters, Shirley Keen of Tennessee and Patricia Stiltner of South Carolina; seven brothers, Brady Stevens of Cleveland, James Stevens of Lebanon, Darnell Stevens and Ralph Stevens, both of Ohio, Harold Stevens and Terry Stevens, both of Grundy and Mike Stevens of Tennessee; one granddaughter, Destinee Ridenbaugh; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Evangelist Mike Trent and Evangelist James Lane officiating. Interment will follow in the Johnson Cemetery on Combs Ridge. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Monday.
